Staying safe
Last updated 4 November 2026
We will never ask for your password, sign-in code, Social Security or VA numbers, or payment details. If anyone does, it isn't us.
Pending legal review
This text describes how the site works today. It is awaiting review by our counsel and may change; we will tell members about material changes.1. What we will never ask for
Nobody from BTU, not staff, Ambassadors or partners, will ever ask you, by email, text, phone, social media or a message on this site, for:
- your password, even "to verify your account";
- your Social Security number, VA file or claim number, DD-214 or ID.me or Login.gov sign-in;
- bank, card, gift card, crypto or payment app details;
- money to "speed up", "unlock" or "guarantee" a benefit, a grant or a program place. Joining the waitlist is free.
2. How to spot a fake
- Check the address bar: our site is btubuilders.com. Type it yourself or use a bookmark instead of following a link in a message.
- Be wary of urgency ("your benefits end today"), prizes, or anyone who wants to move the conversation off this site.
- Our team will never ask you to move to another app or click a link to "fix" your account.
- Scammers target veterans and military families with fake benefits help. Only accredited representatives may help with VA claims; you can check one with the VA's accreditation search on va.gov.
3. If something looks wrong
- Off the site (an email, text or social account pretending to be us): forward it to hello@btubuilders.com. Don't click its links.
- If you shared a password, change it now. If you shared financial or identity details, contact your bank and report it to the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
4. Reporting a security problem
If you find a security weakness on this site, please tell us at hello@btubuilders.com so we can fix it. We are grateful to people who report problems responsibly, and we will not take legal action against good-faith research that follows these rules:
- Use only your own accounts. Don't access, change or keep anyone else's information; stop and tell us if you reach it by accident.
- No denial-of-service testing, spam, social engineering of members or staff, or physical attempts.
- Give us reasonable time to fix the problem before telling anyone else.
We will confirm receipt within three business days and keep you informed. Our machine-readable contact is at /.well-known/security.txt.
5. How we protect you
- This website has no sign-in and keeps no personal information. Pages are served only over encrypted connections.
- The waitlist form sends your details straight to the BTU Builders platform over an encrypted connection. Use a password you don't use anywhere else.
- Keep your email account secure: it is how your BTU Builders account is confirmed and recovered.
Questions about this page: hello@btubuilders.com. Beyond the Uniform provides education only and is not affiliated with the VA or DoD.
